Handling business
Certificate of Eligibility (COE) Application
If you intend to stay in Japan for over 90 days for work, study, or other activities under a Status of Residence (*) designated by the Immigration Office in Japan, you must apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) specific to your intended activity before your arrival in Japan. Therefore, you need to designate someone in Japan who can act as your representative, such as a hosting person, organization, or company.
If you find it difficult to apply for Immigration Service, you can seek my consultation services for assistance with your status and immigration application.
*After your COE is issued, it will be sent to your representative in Japan, who will then forward it to you abroad.
After receiving the COE, you should visit the Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General nearest to you before the COE expires (expiration date: 3 months after issuance) to apply for a visa to enter Japan. Once you obtain the visa, you can fly to Japan with the COE and your passport sealed with the visa.
Change of Status of Stay
If you already hold a Residence Card under a specific Status of Residence but plan to change your activity, you must apply for a Change of Status of Residence before engaging in the new activities. However, this procedure can be very complicated, and in some cases, you may need to prepare additional documents required by immigration officials. Please consult with me and apply for Immigration Service.
Extension of Period of Stay
If you wish to extend the duration of your current visa status, you must submit an application for an Extension of Period of Stay before your current period of stay expires. Failure to apply before the expiration date may result in the loss of your Residence Card and require you to leave Japan. If you are concerned about this, please consult with me and apply for Immigration Service.
Permit to Engage in Activity other than that permitted under the Status of Residence Previously
If you are a student, dependent, or hold any other status, and you want to engage in a part-time job or add different types of activities not permitted under your current status and receive payment for them, you must apply for permission. Without holding this permission, if you engage in a part-time job, you may face deportation from Japan. If you are concerned about this, please consult with me and apply for Immigration Service.
Re-entry Permit
If you want to leave Japan temporarily for travel, business, or to visit family and re-enter Japan afterward, you are required to have a Re-entry Permit. Without this permission, if you leave Japan, you will lose your status. However, with this permission, your status is considered to continue from the last time of departure. If you are concerned about this, please ask me for consultation and assistance with Immigration Service.
*If you have refugee status, please note that for some time, your request may not be received for a change of policy by the Immigration Service at my office.
